Creating a tariff with time elements

Tariffs for housing associations can include time-based pricing in several ways. Multiple methods can also be combined.

Minute fee + fixed price per kWh

If you want a fixed kWh price plus a minute fee, set the tariff type to Standard, and enable both Energy Fee and Duration Fee.

If the association is not VAT-registered, set Tax to No VAT (0%).

Enter the desired price per kWh in Fee per kWh.

Under Billable Unit, choose the time interval.
Examples:

  • 1 min → Fee per unit is billed every minute
  • 15 min → Billed every 15 minutes, etc.

Fixed price per kWh + minute fee after a given time

To introduce a time fee only after a certain period, select Duration + Energy.

Set kWh price, time unit and minute fee just like above, but here you can also define a Duration fee grace period (min) — the time allowed before the minute cost activates.

Example: 2 hours without time cost → then 0.10 NOK/min + 1 NOK/kWh.

Fixed price per kWh + idle/blocking fee

If you want to charge users for being connected without drawing power, activate an Idle fee.

Use Duration + Energy, same setup as a delayed minute tariff.
Example: user pays 1 NOK/kWh → and 180 minutes after charging is complete, 1 NOK/min is charged.

Spot price combined with idle/blocking fee

Spot pricing can only be combined with idle fees — not minute fees.

Configuration:

Type – Energy ToU
Tax – No VAT (0%) – as long as the company is not VAT-registered
Fall-back Electricity Rate – Select the price zone the housing association belongs to
Subsidy – Select electricity subsidy
Markup in % per kWh – 25 (exception if the housing association is VAT-registered or belongs to price zone NO4)
Markup as fixed fee per kWh – Desired fixed markup in NOK per kWh to cover costs
Idle fee per minute – The price you want to charge as an idle fee per minute
Idle fee grace period (min) – Number of minutes from charging completion until the idle fee starts applying

Day and night pricing

For different prices during daytime/nighttime, use Duration + Energy TOD.

Set the start and end times, and select kWh pricing for each period.
Time elements may also be added to this tariff type.

Example:

  • Day 08–20 → 1.50 NOK/kWh + 0.10 NOK/min
  • Idle fee 1 NOK/min after 30 min
  • Night 20–08 → 1.00 NOK/kWh, no time fees
